IRVING, Texas – Former Sun Devil football player Jacom Brimhall has been named to the 2018 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday.
The NFF Hampshire Honor Society capitalizes on the NFF's National Scholar-Athlete program by greatly expanding the number of scholar-athletes the NFF can recognize each year. The program further strengthens the organization's leadership role in encouraging academic performance by the student-athletes at the 778 colleges and universities with football programs nationwide. The members are comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers.
Brimhall is one of the 1,251 players honored in 2018, which sets a new record high, eclipsing the previous mark of 1,103 honorees in 2017. The 303 schools with members ties the previous number also set in 2017.
Brimhall began his career at Arizona State as a walk-on in 2014 and was placed on a full scholarship a year later. Over the course of his four-year career, Brimhall became a member of the team's special teams unit and spent some time playing running back. Brimhall was also nominated for the 2017 Burlsworth Trophy and was a semi-finalist for the 2017 William V. Campbell Trophy.
