ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Arizona State beach volleyball team earned a pair of victories over New Mexico and Colorado Mesa to move out to a five-match win streak, Saturday at the Lucky 66 Bowl.
A day removed from netting wins over Abilene Christian and Colorado Mesa, the Maroon and Gold capped play in Albuquerque with a perfect 4-0 record to their credit. By virtue of the outing, Arizona State improved to 8-10 on the campaign.
The Sand Devils opened the afternoon, edging out tournament host New Mexico, 4-1, before earning a 5-0 over sweep Colorado Mesa.
Again pacing the Sand Devil charge Arizona State's senior ones pair of Kwyn Johnson and Mia Rivera recorded victories of 21-14, 21-12 and 21-12, 21-13, respectively. The ever reliable sophomore threes duo of Ellyson Lundberg and Katelyn Carballo followed suit, earning a pair of straight set victories of their own. Slotted as the twos pair in Arizona State's second dual of the afternoon, Natlaie Braun and Frances Giedraitis earned a dominant 21-11, 21-6 win over Colorado Mesa's Hana Peterman and megan Gianinetti. Continuing to anchor the Sand Devil lineup in impressive fashion, the fours pair of Katie Cross and Cierra Flood and the fives pair of Kate Baldwin and Samantha Plaster, each notched a pair of straight-set victories.
