SAN FRANCISCO – Following the Pac-12 Conference wrestling season, the Pac-12 has announced the 2018 Pac-12 Conference Wrestling All-Academic Teams. Seven Sun Devils earned spots between three teams, highlighted by two First Team honorees.
To be eligible for a place on the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and compete in at least 50% of the team's matches.
Arizona State junior and 2017 All-American Tanner Hall earns a place on the All-Academic First Team for the second time in his career and is joined by Sun Devil newcomer Ryan Millhof, who was an All-American at Oklahoma before transferring to Tempe.
Hall has the third-highest GPA amongst all three teams with a 3.63 as an electrical engineering major. Four of the seven are also competing at NCAA Championships this weekend in Cleveland.
Two-time Pac-12 champion Josh Shields earned a place on the Second Team while four others (Anthony Valencia, Cory Crooks, Austyn Harris, Josh Kramer) earned an Honorable Mention nod.
The Sun Devils have eight competitors at NCAA Championships for the first time since 2003 and are competing in Cleveland, Ohio over the next three days.
