TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 22 Sun Devil Women's Swimming & Diving team prepares for the 2018 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio this week at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on the campus of Ohio State University (Mar. 14-17).
Arizona State will take seven women to the championships including three divers – Frida Kaellgren, Ashley McCool, Mara Aiacoboae – and four swimmers – Chloe Isleta, Claire Fisch, Silja Kansakoski, and Marlies Ross.
Ashley McCool and Frida Kaellgren qualified for the 1-meter and 3-meter dives while Mara Aiacoboae, back-to-back winner of the Pac-12 platform championship, qualified in the platform dive last week at NCAA Zone E Championships.
Silja Kansakoski qualified for the 100 and 200 breast, Chloe Isleta for the 200 IM, Marlies Ross for the 400 IM, and Claire Fisch the 50 free. For relays, the Sun Devils earned a provisional standard in the 200 and 800 free relays and the 400 medley relay.
This season, the Sun Devil women ended the season in the top-25, moving back into the rankings after defeating Arizona for the first time in 25 years on Senior Day in February. Earlier in the season, they earned an upset over then-No. 23 Florida State and at Pac-12's, they captured the Territorial Cup point with their highest finish and team points (third/996) since 1994 (1186).
