TEMPE, Ariz. – After finishing first in a one-round dual vs. Denver in late January, the reigning national champion No. 6/13 Sun Devil women's golf team heads west to the 23rd annual Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge (Feb. 11-13) in Palos Verdes, Calif.

The 18-team field will play 54 holes over the three-day period, with 18 holes each day, starting at 9 am PT/10 am MT on Sunday and Monday and at 8:30 am PT/9:30 am MT on Tuesday.

The tournament will take place at Palos Verdes Golf Club where the participants will play 6,017 yards at par 71. The course was designed in 1924 by Thomas and Bell, who designed several other courses in the area, and Fore Magazine called it "the hidden gem" of Southern California.

An overall team and individual champion will be crowned while a regional champion from each "region" will also be recognized. Last season, the Sun Devils finished second overall and won their regional crown over Alabama, UNLV, Arizona, and Oklahoma State.

ASU has won the team crown twice (2006, 2009) with an individual medalist three times (Juliana Murcia in 2009, Carlota Ciganda in 2011, and Monica Vaughn in 2016).

Individually, Olivia Mehaffey is ranked No. 12 on the Women's World Amateur Golf Rankings.

Alongside the No. 6/13 Sun Devils (Golfstat/Golfweek rankings) in the 18-team field are 12 total ranked teams including No. 1/1 UCLA, No. 2/4 Duke, No. 3/2 Alabama, No. 5/5 Stanford, No. 8/10 Oklahoma State, No. 10/7 Texas, No. 11/9 USC, No. 12/12 Northwestern, No. 18/20 Florida, No. 23/26 Wake Forest, and No. 25/17 Washington along with Arizona, Baylor, Ohio State, San Diego State, Tennessee, and UNLV.
