NORFOLK, Va. – As announced by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Monday morning, the Arizona State men and women's teams have earned Scholar All-America honors for the Fall 2017 semester. To earn the honor, teams were required to post a collective 3.0 GPA or higher.
This is the ninth consecutive semester dating back to fall 2013 that both Sun Devil squads have earned a place on the team while the ASU men have achieved upward improvement for the past three semesters.
With a 3.35 team GPA, the No. 10 Sun Devil men posted a higher fall 2017 GPA than all five other Pac-12 men's teams including No. 1 Cal, No. 5 Stanford, No. 8 USC, No. 18 Arizona, and Utah.
On the women's side, ASU earned a 3.39 GPA as a team, higher than all three Pac-12 schools that have a women's-only program including UCLA, Oregon State, and Washington State, as well as No. 13 USC.
In the November Graduation Success Rate (GSR) announcement by the NCAA, the Sun Devil men's team also recorded a perfect 100 percent, marking a significant improvement from last to first in the Pac-12 over the past three years.
Founded in 1922, the CSCAA is the oldest organization of college coaches in America. The professional organization is dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.
The Sun Devils close the regular season playing host to No. 18/20 Arizona on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1 pm at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. The Territorial Cup points will be decided later in February and early March at the men's and women's Pac-12 Championships.
