TEMPE, Ariz. – After a 2-0 start for both men's and women's swimming last weekend at Utah and BYU, Sun Devil swimming and diving hosts the University of Denver in their regular season home opener this weekend.

THE DETAILS

ASU hosts Denver on Saturday, Oct. 29 at noon at Mona Plummer Aquatic Complex (601 S College Ave, Tempe, AZ 85287). Admission for the meet is free to the public.

SCOUTING DENVER

Last weekend, the men and women went separate ways as the men won the Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif. and the women defeated Colorado State, 159-101, at home.

As a team, the men scored 788 points overall, defeating teams from Air Force, Stanford, Pacific, Cal, and Fresno Pacific.

Notably, the men's 200 free relay beat Stanford's and was just a second behind Cal in a second place finish. Anton Loncar won two events in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke.

In the win vs. Colorado State, Denver's women's team won 11 of 14 events including a pool record and NCAA B Standard in the 100 back by Morgan McCormick, one of her three individual wins accompanying a win in the 200 medley relay.

LAST TIME OUT

Both teams earned wins at Utah Friday, Oct. 21 and BYU Saturday, Oct. 22 to open the regular season, winning 16 of 24 individual events in the first meet and 20 of 24 in the second.

At Utah, a women's 400-yard free relay win, followed by a similar story for the men, helped seal the victory.

Freshmen Kendall Dawson and Chloe Isleta each recorded two wins apiece, Dawson in the 100 and 500-yard free and Isleta in the 100 and 200-yard back.

Seniors Alysha Bush, Richard Bohus, and Barkley Perry also each won two events apiece.

The next day at BYU, Isleta, Dawson, and Bush followed suit with a pair of individual victories apiece while Kaya Philapil also touched first in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke.

On the men's side, Zach Poti (100-yard back) and Cameron Craig (200-yard IM) earned their first career individual victories while Benjamin Olszewski (500 and 1000-yard free) earned multiple victories.

NEXT UP

After Saturday's home meet, the teams head to Southern California next weekend as both teams face USC on Friday, Nov. 4 and the women face UCLA on Saturday, Nov. 5. Just before thanksgiving, the men and women travel to College Station, Texas for the Art Adamson Invitational (Nov. 17-19).

The next chance to catch the Sun Devils at home will be Friday, Dec. 16 when the women host Northern Arizona at 2 p.m.
