The Arizona State men's basketball team will host UC Santa Cruz on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m., in an exhibition game that will be free.

The NCAA allows men's basketball teams to play two preseason games, and it can be a combination of closed scrimmages against NCAA Division I teams and/or exhibitions against non D-I teams.

UC Santa Cruz is coached by Sun Devil almuni Ronnie DuBois, a former walkon who earned a scholarship, was Sun Devil team captain his senior year and earned all-academic Pac-10 honors

The Sun Devils, 58-14 (.806) at home the past four seasons, will have their first five home games broadcast by Pac-12 Networks before it hosts an ESPN2 broadcast at 7 p.m. against Creighton. The 2016-17 Sun Devil men's basketball regular season will begin on Veteran's Day (Friday, Nov. 11) with a 7 p.m. MT tip against Portland State and conclude with a visit from CBS on Saturday, March 4, for a 2 p.m. Territorial Cup Series matchup. The best home win in its history came on February 14, 2014, when the Devils upset No. 2 Arizona in the Territorial Cup in overtime, 69-66, as ASU has won three of the past five at home against Arizona.
