Player Bio: Lisa Aguilera - Arizona State University Official Athletic Site



ASU: One of the nation's elite female distance runners…returning All-American in cross country, indoor and outdoor track…first-team Academic All-American in cross country and third-team selection in track and field…last year's Pac-10 and USTCA West Region Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year…set ASU records with fifth-place finish at the 2000 NCAA Cross Country Championships and first place finish at the West Regionals…ASU's 2000-01 Female Student Athlete of the Year…ASU record-holder in the indoor mile (4:44.44).

2001 Outdoor: Set personal bests in the 1500m (4:19.90), the 3000m steeplechase (10:08.85) and the 5000m (16:06.63)…battled a late-season knee injury to place third in the 3000m steeplechase (10:17.66) at the Pac-10 Championships…was unable to advance past her preliminary heat of the steeplechase at the NCAA Championships, placing sixth in 10:23.63… NCAA automatic qualifier in the steeplechase and the 5000m, provisional qualifier in the 1500m…only competed in the steeplechase at nationals…won the steeplechase at the Stanford Invitational March 31, the very first time she competed in the event…at Stanford clocked a time of 10:08.85, the collegiate record and world's fastest time for 20 days…won the 1500m at the Baldy Castillo Invitational (4:20.54ht) and at the Sun Angel Classic (4:19.90)…in the ASU record books, ranks second in the 1500m, fifth in the 3000m (9:29.63), third in the 5000m and second in the steeplechase…first-team Academic All-District selection and third-team Academic All-American selection…also earned second-team Pac-10 All-Academic honors.

2001 Indoor: Did not compete.

2000 XC: Became just the third ASU woman to earn All-America cross country honors, placing a school-record fifth (20:46.3) out of 252 runners at the NCAA Championships…raced past the previous high finish at nationals set by teammate Kelly MacDonald in 1999 (36th)…also broke previous regional and Pac-10 school records, placing first at regionals (improving upon MacDonald’s fourth place finish in 1999) and second at the Pac-10 Championships (improving upon her own fourth place finish in '99)…honored as NCAA West Region Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year (USTCA)…first ASU female to win an individual title in a championship race, placing first (20:25) at the West Regionals and earning all-region honors… placed second and ran a season-best 6,000-meter time at the conference championships (20:19.95)…also placed second at the Roy Griak Invitational and fifth at the NCAA Pre-National Invitational… first-team Academic All-American …first-team Pac-10 All-Academic selection for the second straight year.

2000 Outdoor: Earned All-America honors in the 1,500 meters with an eighth-place finish and a then-personal best of 4:20.67 at nationals…captured 800m meet title at the Bill Sawyer Invitational (2:11.78) and the 1,500m meet title at the Sun Angel Classic.

2000 Indoor: Earned All-America honors in the mile, placing seventh at the NCAA Championships (4:48)…set ASU indoor record in the mile with a 4:44.44 performance at the Cyclone Classic.

1999 XC: Earned first-team All-Pac-10 honors with a then-school-record fourth-place finish (17:20) at the conference championship, leading ASU to a school-best second-place finish... finished fifth at the NCAA West Regional (season best 17:15) to earn all-region honors... placed 50th at the NCAA Championship in 17:37... earned four top-five finishes, placing second at the Cal Irvine and Roy Griak Invitationals in addition to Pac-10s and regionals... was the team's top finisher in each of those meets except for regional... was named team's most improved runner, as evidenced by her jumps at the championship meets: up 25 spots at Pac-10s, up 37 places at Regionals and up 81 at NCAAs.

1999 Outdoor: Redshirted.

1999 Indoor: Ran ASU's then-second-best all-time indoor mile mark with an altitude-adjusted 4:51.25 at the MPSF Championships to finish third... won the mile in the NAU/UA Double Dual in 5:01.79.

1998 XC: Consistently one of ASU's top three runners... finished 29th at the Pac-10 Championship (18:30) and 42nd at the NCAA West Regional (18:13), both third-best on the team... was Sun Devils' second-best finisher at the NCAA Championships, finishing 131st (18:31) as the team finished in a tie for 23rd... had top-20 finishes at the ASU (17th) and Canyon West (4th) Invitationals... ran a season-best 18:06 at Canyon West.

High School:An eight-time Arizona state champion... won state titles her junior season in the 3200, 4x800 and heptathlon... state champ her senior season in 3200, 1600, 800, 4x800 and cross country... a two-time letterwinner in basketball.

Personal: Majoring in finance/computer science... parents are Ruben and Chris Aguilera... has two brothers: Nick (20) and Tony (13)... born Nov. 30, 1979, in Phoenix.

Personal Bests: Mile—4:44.44 (school record), 1500—4:19.90, 3000—9:29, 3000 SC—10:08.85, 5000—16:06.63.
